On Sale

Our current city ordinances are rife with totalitarian restrictions upon fundamental freedoms that are taken for granted in other communities.

On Saturday, Art In The Market will be "offering for sale" pre read copies of Smithsonian magazine. We also have the popular City Commission posters for 5 dollars each.

Proceeds will go to our cause. The sale of these items are protected by our Constitution's First Amendment.

Current Ordinance 22-6

a) It is unlawful for any person to sell or offer for sale, compensation or donation, or rent or offer for rent, goods, wares, merchandise, food stuffs, refreshments, or other kinds of property or services upon the streets, alleys, sidewalks, parks and other public places within historic preservation zoning districts HP-2 and HP-3.
(b) The provisions of this section shall not apply to the sale or offer for sale of newspapers of general circulation. For the purposes of this section, "newspapers of general circulation" means a publication published at regular intervals, primarily for the dissemination of news, intelligence and opinions on recent events or newsworthy items of a general character, and reaching all classes of the public.
Who wrote this? Amazing! Let's see you make this stick.

Get some copies of the Smithsonian issue that included a article and pictures about St.Augustine and the elimination of the artists, musicians and entertainers on St. George Street back in the late 90's.
